I am Lorraine M. Garcia, PhD, WHNP-BC, CNM. I have a PhD in Healthcare Systems and my research focus is to identify and implement solutions to improve childbirth experiences and outcomes in the US maternity care system.
I offer education programs, contract work, and speaker appearances for all sizes and types of audiences and clients. I work across academic and professional disciplines with the strongly supported belief that all maternity care providers (midwives, nurses, physicians, and doulas) must increase awareness, effective skills, and pathways to mitigate and eliminate obstetric violence.
Respectful maternity care makes birth better for women and newborns, while also decreasing moral distress and burnout among maternity care providers.
Strong and well informed community, policy, and legislative actions are additional areas where I am happy to consult on strategies and action plans to improve female reproductive experiences and outcomes.

I am committed to reaching all interested and affected parties who are working to make birth better. Contracts and fees for my services vary based on group size, budget, and length of time for project or program. I work with facilities, professionals, groups, and individuals who need:
